William Samuel

Will is 33 and works as a Rail coordinator in Agricultural commodities/Import/Export. Dad to 8mth old Mateo and husband to Sam. Will joined PDH less than a year ago, but his presence is one that instantly reflected family and belonging. He had a challenging start during the birth of his son but this life event has reignited his passion for training and his motivation to improve his health, becoming one of our most consistent members and losing over 20kg.

LETS HEAR ABOUT WILL's JOURNEY AT PDH

• How long have you been training at PDH?

I've been training at PDH for just over 10 months now :)

• What changes have you noticed about your mindset and physical capabilities since joining PDH?

 I've changed a lot of how I look at myself with food and physical exercise. I came into this gym at 151 kilos, now sitting at 130 kilos and still burning. Mentally, I have a long way to go, but physically, I can see the journey of self-improvement. 

  What are your current training goals?

Honestly, I just want to be healthy for my son. I have an 8-month-old who's growing rapidly. When you wish time could slow down, it just doesn't. I know this little ripper is going to keep me on my toes, so I'm basically preparing myself for the loving, controlled chaos that is Mateo (son). Also, I'd like to have a body like Carl Twaddle. 

 

How does PDH accommodate and support you towards these goals?

The sheer dedication to accountability, not giving me excuses as to why I can't, but pushing me to see I can, I appreciate the hard truths and constructive criticism when it comes to training, it's why I like this space. 

 

What changes have you made outside the gym to prioritise your health?

Eating better, taking some downtime when I'm not busy with work/life, staying hydrated, and taking care of my mental health.

 

What does PDH provide that sets them apart from other gyms?

PDH offers a ray of programming boasting strength and conditioning combined, catered to all ages. I've seen members in their 70s killing it in the gym,  they are pillars of inspiration for sure. Karina also offers a nutritional programs for those looking to dive deeper into their fitness journey. 

 

Karina implements our programs/sessions with options should we be limited to certain movements but ensures we are getting maximum output, with quality and safe practice, not only is the programming RX+ but the environment PDH provides, My first time walking through those doors i was nervous, a new place where i knew no one, unfamiliar faces, no where to hide. Karina and some of the members introduced themselves to me straight away, making me feel invited and comfortable.

 

There is a large support system here at PDH. At first, you may not notice, but when the entire gym erupts in camaraderie, pushing each other to our best, you feel the ENERGY!!.

 

 

 What would you say to encourage other people in your position to get started?

If you're on the outside looking in? The view is better when you walk through the door. We welcome all levels of fitness, all ages. It's time to see the new and improved you. Welcome to PDH.

Will is a fun and genuine person that looks out for his fellow PDH crew. Theres no longer a session he will avoid or a song he doesn't to dance to, his energy is contagious and its been an absolute pleasure watching his physical and mental transformation in such a short amount of time. Will, you are and will continue to be a wonderful role model to your Son for the rest of his life. Now stop using the 15kg Dumbbells please :-)
